NRI CENTREWelcome to NRI Centre. We have made an attempt here to furnish important features applicable to Non-Resident Indians (NRI) and People of Indian Origin having foreign nationality and residing in foreign countries. (PIO).Before entering to technical part of the subject we wish you to know the concept of insurance clearly; to identify the proper type of policy; to know the premium structure of the policy and to get the doubts, if any, on our different insurance plans clarified through your agent or LIC Branch Office.Concept of insurance and different types of plans:Life risk cover i.e. financial protection to the family in case of an unforeseen event- say death, illness, disability on account of accident, etc –is the main purpose of insurance. But, it is also seen as a ‘compulsory savings’ leading to creation of wealth which can be utilized for education/marriage of children; for old age provision; for construction of house; etc. Policies are taken to get exemption from Income Tax and to assign these to financial institutions as collateral security while availing different type of credit facilities including housing loan. In order to meet various socio-economic needs of different people, LIC has designed more than 40 types of plans which include whole life policies, endowment policies with a definite term, joint life policies, money back policies having provision for periodical lump sum payments called survival benefits, term insurance policies which have low premium but high risk cover, pension plans, children plans, Unit Linked Plans which provide an opportunity to invest in capital market, etc. etc. Each of our plans has distinct features covering certain type of benefits. The selection depends on your needs. Details of plans are available under the option ‘products-insurance plans’. Each plan is given a table number for identification purpose. e.g. Table 14 refers to Endowment Plan which is most popular in India.Calculations of premium:
Once short listing of two to three plans is made, you would proceed to know the premium rates & calculations. For this, you should decide the term of policy, Sum assured, Mode of payment of Premium ( Yearly, Half yearly, Quarterly or Monthly ) and whether you require additional benefits like accident benefit. You may go to the option :‘tools - premium calculator’ for knowing the premium amount to be paid for the policy of your choice. Thereafter, you would be required to know the formalities to be completed for obtaining the desired type of policy.Requirements to take a policy of insurance:
Submission of prescribed proposal form ( Form No. 300 in majority of the cases )is the basic requirement. Medical report may be required to assess the health of the proposer. Proofs of age and income, agent’s recommendations, special reports in case of any deformity or history of major illness, etc. would be required to evaluate the risk. This process is called ‘Underwriting’ and it is done in India based on the facts appearing in proposal form and allied papers. If the proposed life is acceptable and sufficient amount is received towards the First Premium, acceptance letter would be sent to the proposer and policy bond would be issued in due course.By this time, you might have felt that matter is rather technical and assistance/guidance of an agent is quite essential. Yes, that is why we strongly recommend to seek help of an agent from India who can guide and assist you. You may seek help of any Divisional/Branch Office of LIC whose addresses you can find from the option: ‘locator’ appearing on main page. Now , let us enter in to the subject with more details.NON-RESIDENT INDIAN:

Appraisal clause: Most auto insurance policies include an appraisal clause, which can be used to help settle disputes about physical damage claims between you and your insurance company. (The appraisal clause does not apply for claims you file with the other party's insurance company.) If you cannot reach an agreement with your company, you or your insurer can initiate the appraisal clause. Your appraiser and your insurer's appraiser then select an independent umpire to try to resolve the dispute. Check your policy or ask your agent or insurance company for more information about the appraisal clause. And that is it. While filing a claim is certainly no fun, following these seven steps will make the process almost as easy as getting free quotes and purchasing your car insurance at CarInsurance

Many personal auto insurance companies consider your credit information when determining how much premium to charge for your insurance. So if you are calling around for new insurance, keep in mind that many insurers are looking at your credit history. I hope that we will be able to let you know why and how they do this.
The reason that some insurance companies use credit information is because there is a direct correlation between consumer's credit history behaviors and expected claims that may occur. Therefore, they feel that people with better credit behavior are less likely to have severe insurance losses. The companies that do use credit scoring will still use other factors in determining your premium. They will also use your age, driving history, type of vehicle, where you live in determining how much you should pay for your insurance. Therefore, if you have not established a credit history yet, the companies that use credit history may not be best for you. They may not allow you to be eligible for certain discounts, which could result in higher premiums. Is it fair for an insurance company even look at my credit information without my permission? The answer is yes. The Federal Fair Credit Reporting Act says "Reasonable procedures. It is the purpose of this title to require that consumer reporting agencies adopt reasonable procedures for meeting the needs of commerce for consumer credit, personnel, insurance, and other information in a manner which is fair and equitable to the consumer, with regard to the confidentiality, accuracy, relevancy, and proper utilization of such information in accordance with the requirements of this title."
If you feel that your credit history is better then the insurer can find, make sure the insurer has your correct name, address, social security number, and date of birth. Some insurance companies will look directly at your actual credit reports when determining your rate, however most will use what is called an "insurance credit score." An insurance credit score is developed by using statistical techniques and methods to predict the likelihood a consumer will have a higher than anticipated loss. These are similar to what lenders use to predict the reliability of an applicant repaying a loan.Insurance companies use many factors in determining your credit score. Here are some examples of those factors:Public records: bankruptcy, collections, foreclosures, liens, charge-offs, etc.Past payment history: the number and frequency of late payments and the days between the due date and late payment date.Length of credit history: the amount of time you have been in the credit system.Inquiries for credit: the number of times you have recently applied for new credit, including mortgage loans, utility accounts, and credit card accounts.Number of open lines of credit: the number of credit cards, whether you use them or not.Type of credit in use: major credit cards, store credit cards, finance company loans, etc.Unused credit: how much you owe compared to how much credit is available to you.Your insurance credit score may differ from company to company, as they will use different factors in determining your premium. Notice that we call it an insurance credit score. This means that it encompasses many factors including credit.Since each insurance company uses different techniques to determine your credit score it is hard to tell you what a good credit score is. Usually a good credit score will result in lower premiums.Your agent or company is not obligated to tell you your credit score. In fact, they might not even know what it is. All they usually know is that your credit score qualifies you for a specific rate or policy.
Some companies also offer better rates under each qualifying tier.If you feel that there is incorrect information on your credit report, you should tell the credit bureau. If you report an error, the credit bureau must investigate the error and get back to you within 30 days. You can ask the credit bureau to send a notice of the correction to any creditor or insurer that has checked your file in the past six months. Once the errors are corrected, it is a good idea to get a new copy of your credit report several months later to make sure the wrong information has not been reported again.
The three national credit bureaus are:Tell your insurance company. Do not wait until the credit bureau investigates the errors to contact your insurer. Tell your insurance company right away and ask if the errors will make a difference in your insurance. If the errors are big, tell your insurer that you are disputing the information and ask if they will wait to use your credit information until the errors are corrected. Small errors may not have much affect on your insurance credit score. If the errors are big, it can make a significant difference in your premium. Some companies are unable to adjust the premiums until the score is corrected, but it does not hurt to ask.If you have taken the steps to improve your credit score, you should ask your insurance company to re-evaluate your credit score at renewal.

Discount Auto Insurance Exploring
You won’t be stuck with paying high rates for auto insurance year after year when you look for ways to save money. Discount auto insurance is available when you know what to look for. The lower that this deductible is, the higher your insurance premiums will be. Choosing a higher amount of deductible will give you a discount on your auto insurance.Even though the base cost of the policy doesn’t change, you can save money by paying the auto insurance in one lump sum when it is time to renew. When you pay out your insurance monthly, you pay additional costs in financing charges, which are often quite high. Ask your insurance agent if the company provides any discounts for age and safe driving records. If you do have a safe driving record, then you are in the prime position for receiving cheap auto insurance. If you have a record of several accidents, then the insurance provider sees you as a bad risk and will charge you a higher rate. Many insurance providers provide a discount when you add your teenage son or daughter to your policy when they demonstrate that they have a grade of “B” or higher in their high school subjects. If teenagers take driving lessons from driving schools, this also qualifies for a discount on insurance. The longer you have been driving affects the amount of money you have to pay for your annual policy. With the many insurance providers that have an online presence, it is easier than ever before to save money with discount auto insurance simply by searching online.Discount Auto Insurance - Can My Profession Help?If you can identify the right insurance companies, you can get discount auto insurance because of the profession you belong to. If you choose not to identify such insurers you are simply losing money on car insurance. For certain reasons, your profession can attract discounts in auto insurance. I’ll try to make this clearer with the engineering profession. This translates to lower auto insurance premiums for engineers by some insurance companies. You can trust that due to their training, they’ll notice a fault long before most thus reducing fatalities due to faults. If a car make or model is prone to certain problems, you can be sure this group will know about it.However, if you have a bad driving record, even if you are an engineer, such insurance companies will not give you discount auto insurance because you have defeated their reason for it in the first place.Teachers also enjoy discount auto insurance. Teachers are seen by such insurance companies as very stable. Teachers know that they are being watched as models by the society. They know that they’re watched closely if they are really worthy of building our children’s values. The mere knowledge that you are so closely marked will make you do your best to earn their trust and that will surely affect your driving. There’s no need to despair if your profession wasn’t mentioned in this short article. You can still get discount auto insurance. This need shows the great importance of car insurance quotes sites. They make the task of getting different quotes from insurance companies a lot easy. Discount auto insurance is possible and, in fact easy, if you’ll take the time out to visit at least three insurance quotes sites and obtain auto insurance quotes.

Property insurance provides protection against most risks to property, such as fire, theft and some weather damage. This includes specialized forms of insurance such as fire insurance, flood insurance, earthquake insurance, home insurance or boiler insurance. Property is insured in two main ways - open perils and named perils. Open perils cover all the causes of loss not specifically excluded in the policy. Common exclusions on open peril policies include damage resulting from earthquakes, floods, nuclear incidents, acts of terrorism and war. Named perils require the actual cause of loss to be listed in the policy for insurance to be provided. The more common named perils include such damage-causing events as fire, lightning, explosion and theft.

[edit] Fire insurance coverage
There are three types of insurance coverage. Replacement cost pays the cost of replacing your property regardless of depreciation or appreciation. Extended replacement cost will pay over the coverage limit if the costs for construction have increased. This generally will not exceed 20% of the limit. Actual Cash Value provides replacement minus depreciation. When you obtain an insurance policy, the coverage limit established is the maximum amount the insurance company will pay out in case of loss of property.[citation needed] This amount will need to fluctuate if homes in your neighborhood are rising; the amount needs to be in step with the actual value of your home. In case of a fire, household content replacement is tabulated as a percentage of the value of the home. In case of high value items, the insurance company may ask to specifically cover these items separate from the other household contents. One last coverage option is to have alternative living arrangements included in a policy.[citation needed] If a fire leaves your home uninhabitable, the policy can help pay for a hotel or other living arrangements.

[edit] Fire insurance in India

[bewerken] Nederland

[bewerken] Wat is verzekerd

[bewerken] Kale branddekking
Gedekt is:
Brand;
Ontploffing; en
Blikseminslag.

[bewerken] Geleidelijk werkende invloeden

het bedrag is waarvoor de verzekerde zijn belang wenst te dekken;
het maximum aangeeft tot waar schade wordt vergoed;
onderverzekering;
oververzekering;
dubbelverzekering.
